Water Districts
A water district is a special district, which has territorial boundaries. Those residents within the boundaries may be charged a benefit assessment tax, a user fee or a combination of both in order to pay for any outstanding debt and general operating, administrative and maintenance costs that allows the Town to provide the additional service to the district. In a water district, the additional service is public water. There are currently two water districts in the Town of Clayton: |
Bartlett Point Water District (Click here for map) |
This district includes areas along Bartlett Point Road and NYS Route 12E which are located outside of the Village of Clayton. The municipal water service is provided through an intermunicipal agreement with the Village of Clayton and invoices are provided directly to the users by the Village of Clayton. This district includes areas along Reed Point in the hamlet of Fishers Landing. The municipal water service is provided through an intermunicipal agreement with the Town of Orleans and the Town of Alexandria and fees are levied to the property owners real property taxes each year. In the case of an emergency, customers should contact the Town of Orleans Department of Public Works at (315) 658-4406. |

This district includes areas within Heritage Heights, outside of the Village of Clayton. There is a $1,000 connection fee to hook into a water or sewer district. A connection permit can be obtained at the Town of Clayton Code Enforcement Office.
