Town and County tax bills are mailed out at the end of December and property owners have the entire month of January (until February 1) to pay without penalty.
Payment(s) may be made in person using cash or check. Payments may also be sent by mail using check or money order. Additionally, online payment(s) may be made through the following link: https://www.paylocalgov.com/Payment/SelectEntity/822
If the property owner chooses to mail in payment, the envelope must be postmarked by the United States Postal Service dated the day of the due date. Any payment postmarked beyond the due date incurs a payment penalty.
The Town of Clayton will only be accepting full payments due by February 1,2022 or 1st installments due February 1, 2022.
For 2022, 2nd and 3rd installments will be accepted by the Jefferson County Treasurer located at 175 Arsenal St., Watertown, NY 13601. Payment will be accepted in person or by mail at this address and will need to follow the mailing guidance listed above. The Town Clerk no longer receives the 2nd and 3rd tax payment installment(s).
